counter)induction, New York’s most dynamic new music collective, presents its season finale with Epitaphs: Music in Memoriam. Intimate, haunting, and beautiful, this concert celebrates the music of memory in the breathtaking Crypt at the Church of the Intercession. Epitaphs features two world premieres written especially for counter)induction: Eric Moe’s What Instruments We Have Agree, in memory of composer Lee Hyla (1952-2014), and Lewis Nielson’s zwischen Landwehr Kanal und Friedrichsfelde, acknowledging the revolutionary socialist Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919). Rounding out the program are works by Kyle Bartlett and Douglas Boyce.
