News from Christopher Shultis: Premiere of GLOCK, by percussionist Aaron Butler, for whom it was composed, will be on February 12 at Hart Recital Hall, Michigan State University as part of a residency and lecture by the composer, "Radical Simplicity"at 2:30 PM and a concert of Shultis works including Glock, at 7:00 PM.
An all-Shultis concert will also take place at John Jay College on Saturday March 19 at 8:00 PM at the John Jay College Art Gallery, and will include music from his new CD: "An Illusion of Desire: Experimental Music by Christopher Shultis." The concert will include the world premiere of "Metaphysics," (with video by Hee Sook Kim) of "4-7-3" for two percussion and electronics; "motion/less" for solo percussion; "Gesturing Hands" for solo theremin; and "Friends" for spoken word, crotales and piano. Performers will be Doug Nottingham, Brett Reed, and the composer. CDs will also be available (pre-released copies) for purchase at the show.
